Mar adentro

Mar adentro (The Sea Inside) is a controversial, real-life story about a quadripalegic fighting for euthanasia. As a primarily Catholic country, assisted suicide is frowned upon (much like it is in other parts of the world), but Ramon Sampedro believes that his spinal injury has ended his enjoyment of life and as a result he should be able to die if he so wishes. Throughout the movie, several people come to visit and try to talk him out of his decision as he simultaneously battles for his right to die in Spanish courts. The story is tragic and powerful as Ramon tries to take control of his own life and remembers the youthful potential he once had.
