El hombre muerto

Horacio Quiroga's (Uruguay) El hombre muerto tells a tragic tale of a banana plantation owner who accidentally falls on his machete while going about his daily trimming and working in the banana plantation. As he realizes what is going on and what has happened, he lies dying on the ground unable to call for help and hoping that a neighbor might pass by him. His hearing and vision begin to blur as he thinks about his family and his life before dying beside his horse. A moving work of written art, this tragedy is especially descriptive and captures the notion of death incredibly well.
