Aqueronte

Aqueronte by José Emilio Pacheco (México) is a mysterious tale of a girl sitting in a restaurant and a young man sitting outside on the patio. They exchange glances and continue about their dining individually. When the man begins to leave, the girl tries to run out to stop him and introduce herself. She is too late and he is gone. With no idea which way he went, the girl is left to wonder if she missed her one chance at true love by hesitating. The story includes the reader in the plot with heavy reliance on the five senses, description and universal experiences.
